Film Department

The Section of Literature and Film is the meeting point for the academics researching literary, cultural, socio-cultural, film, media studies, and marketing phenomena. The research on film is dominated by the problematics of social and ethical transformation, reflection on postmodern aesthetics, and its forms in the cinema of genres as well as in films of high artistic value. It is complemented by the works on the documentary and TV productions. Within literary research, the following domains are given special attention: the exploration of works and biography of prominent writers of the 20th and the 21st century, the analysis of their presence in the media domain, study on documentary prose (documentary, memoir writing, oral history) analyzed through the lenses of anthropology and the history of culture. Media studies research focuses on the forms of literature and art presence in the media and in the new media, opinion radio and TV journalism, as well as marketing in culture. Our staff members comprise renowned literature and film experts, modern literature critics, as well as editors of TV and radio programmes, prose writers, poets, and essayists.
