Intercultural Department

The Section of Intercultural Communication was established in 2012 under the auspices of Professor Izabela Surynt. It gathers lecturers of the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication, representatives of different disciplines and science (humanities and social) researching the following areas: cultural transfers, communication cultures (especially Polish, German, and Russian), stereotypes, cultural memory, various identity manifestations (national, religious) and alterity /otherness etc. The results of our efforts are, among others, a two-volume compendium containing over 1300 pages and several dozen of exhaustive terms, “Interakcje. Leksykon komunikowania polsko-niemieckiego” [“Interactions. Lexicon of Polish-German Communication”] and numerous academic and literary publications as well as plenty of monographs published by our staff.

ATTENTION FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS of academic year 2023/24

Kindly informs that it will be launched:

Additional period - from January 30 to February 14, 2024- for people who did not complete the initial OHS training in the first period (from October 1 to November 30, 2023) (students, doctoral students of the first semester in the academic year 2023/24.

The training material and the test, the passing of which is a condition for completing the training, is available on the e-learning platform of the University of Wrocław, run by the Distance Learning Center at the University of Wrocław.

The training will be available on: from January 30 to February 14, 2024 at: https://e-edu.cko.uni.wroc.pl

According to § 2.2. Order No. 202/2022 of the Rector of the University of Wrocław of September 14, 2022. "A student or doctoral student who fails to obtain a credit within the indicated period cannot be admitted to classes and repeats the first semester of education or is removed from the list of students or doctoral students."

1. Sign up for the course using the access key: HaS2024(II)

2. Familiarize yourself with the modules of the course and complete the test. The materials should be viewed from the "Introduction to training" module according to the order of the course. Pay attention to the completion symbols on the right side of the modules.

3. Check your grade after completing the test!

Dear Students,

Due to a large number of students on Communication Management’s 1st Year, there is a decision to create a new, additional 3rd group. This decision is based on our willingness to remain our high didactics standards.

You’ll be divided once again - now into three groups. The new lists of students in groups will appear on our website in the Info tab. You should also see it on your USOS accounts. Please, check it and look at the new schedule. The new groups and schedule goes into effect on Monday (October 16th).

FACULTATIVE SUBJECTS IN THE WINTER SEMESTER 24.09.2023

Sing ups for facultative subjects and Specjalisation Project will be in the USOS system. They will start on Wednesday 27.09 at 10.00 a.m. and end on Friday 28.09 at 11.59 p.m.

Please, check your USOS account, if you can see the options there. You can do it between 25.09 (from 10.00 a.m.) and 26.09 (to 1 p.m.). If you cant’s see the facultative subjects there, send an e-mail to this adress - dkskw.rejestracja@gmail.com. The e-mail has to contain your name, course name and students ID number.

Number of places is limited, so firs come first served. If you don’t sign up during the scheduled period of time, you will have to join the subject with free places left.

Attending the facultative subject and Specialisation Project without singing up may result in failure to pass it, so it is very important for you to do it.

Passing without attending:

There is also a possibility of passing the facultative subjetc without atteding it, only if you passed a subject related to the Communication Management programm during a different course in Wroclav University or other University. In this case you will get the same grade.

The decision in this matter belongs to the Didactisc Dean (you can find the document to fill on the Dean’s Office website). The document must be signed by the Didactis Director of the Institute first.

The subject you’ve passed has to meet the following criteria:

- be connected to the Communication Management programm

- last 30 hours

- end with an exam and/or grade

- have at least 2 ECTS points

"Entrepreneurship. Work, Business, Career" – obligatory subject for first-year students of second-cycle studies in all s 22.02.2023

Classes in the subject "Entrepreneurship. Work, business, career" will be implemented in the

summer semester 2022/2023 exclusively in e-learning form. The subjects

will appear in your USOSweb account on 15 March 2023.

In the second half of March, recorded lectures and other e-learning materials. Students will familiarise themselves with the material independently. A link to the material will be emailed to your university inbox. On 2.06 - 5.06. there will be a course credit conducted in the form of an online test.

Students choose optional subjects and a Specialization Project from the Institute's
offer - see below.
Items should be selected according to the blocks into which they are grouped, for
example: Item option I - choose one item from block A, Option item II - choose one item
from block B.
The number of places in each group is limited, the order of applications decides.
It will not be possible to obtain a credit in an optional subject for which the student will
not be enrolled in the system.
