Announcement no 3/2020 of the Dean of the Faculty of Letters

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I know there is a lot of varying information on the internet, but here, in our Department, we agree that this week Thursday is Thursday and Friday is Friday. This doesn’t, of course, mean that you can’t attend classes in costumes or celebrate the student carnival virtually.

The Dean’s Office issued a decree regulating various aspects of online tutoring – the details are in the link.

The Dean’s decree describes changes and regulations resulting from the latest government bill. In short, those of you who cannot return to the University (if we return to regular classes) will have the right to finish the semester remotely. After the 24th of May, final exams will probably be possible online as well. By the 1st of June your academic tutors have to formally inform you about any changes to the final grading (e.g. if they decide to have exams or essays for the final credit). However, I think that proper solutions to these problems can be found through reasoning and respectful negotiations. Once again, I’d like to encourage you to do the obvious – consult each other, communicate and cooperate to find optimal solutions. Your teachers are human, too (apart from one android whose name shall remain secret).

We are actually still waiting to see what the situation will be like after the 24th of May. A lot depends on whether we will be able to finish the semester in ‘regular’ conditions and, only after we know that, will we be able to determine how to organize the final weeks and the exam session.

Traditionally, may the Force, good health and reasoning faculties be with you,
Arkadiusz Lewicki
Director of The Institute of Journalism and Social Communication
